As part of our winter Carnival, we had a Literacy Day where the staff and students were invited to come to school in pajamas to participate in a day devoted to Literacy. We invited several members of the local surrounding communities to come in and share their love of reading with our students.
We were not disappointed! Mr. Stephen Robertson of Rexton was a huge hit with our students! He was very animated and had the children participating in many of the stories that he read, by making sounds of characters, creating movement, and learning from an expert, of how to incorporate character and feeling into whatever happes to be the specific choice of literature.
This was an excellent opportunity for all of the adults in our building to recharge our batteries in terms of the importance of reading to our children, being read to by our children, and the bonding that can be created through such a warm and cozy activity!
