As you can see, you can really benefit from being physically active!

Physical Activity Guidelines
The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that children and youth (5-17 years) should do at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
This should include:
ü Intense activities at least 3 days per week (ex. running, basketball, soccer)
ü Activities that strengthen muscle and bone at least 3 days per week.(ex. climbing and swinging on playground equipment, running, walking, jumping rope)
The more you do, the better your health will be!
It is recommended that you limit the time spent being inactive each day.
There will be no classes for students on Monday, November 11 for Remembrance Day and Friday, November 22 for parent/teacher interviews and PD in the afternoon. There will be parent/teacher interviews on Thursday, November 21 in the evening as well.
The students of Harcourt School will be having their annual Halloween Party on Thursday, October 31 in the afternoon. There will be a costume parade, games and class parties. There will be prizes too! Lots of fun for everyone :)
The teachers and staff would like to welcome all students to a new school year! It is going to be another exciting year here at Harcourt School. Stay tuned for upcoming events...like our Open House/Meet the Teacher night on Wednesday, September 18 starting at 6:00 pm.
All are welcome to our Award's Day on Thursday, June 20 at 1:00 pm. Also, the grade 5's will be "graduating'". Good luck to our boys who will be attending EWG Middle School in September. You will be missed !
Keeping yourself safe while being active. Here are some great safety tips for when you being physically active. 1. Wear proper footwear like sneakers when running or playing sports2. If you are going to be outdoors, remember to apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn3. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated and prevent overheating4. If you are biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, etc., be sure to wear your helmet. This is the final week of the Go for 42 Challenge. Be active and strive to accumulate 40 kms.
Preparing for physical activity is important! Did you know that it is important to warm up your body before any physical activity? Warming up prepares your body physically and mentally for exercising, and also helps prevent injuries. If you are going for a run, you can warm up with some light jogging followed by some stretching. So lace up your sneakers, “warm up”, get a friend and go for a run. It’s Go for 42 time! For more details visit Mango Go for 42 Challenge 2013 .

that by increasing your physical activity you can greatly reduce your chances
of getting sick? You will also be
happier and healthier! Playing outside with your friends is a fun and easy way
to stay physically active. Running improves your heart, lungs, flexibility, and
gives you more energy! Running can also help you improve in other sports. Don’t forget to get at least 60 minutes of
physical activity each day! Lace up your
sneakers and get out there to accumulate Kilometers and “Go for 42.”
