Due to maximization of class sizes, as of June 15, 2016, the district will not be in a position to approve out of zone transfer requests until after September 30, 2016. All requests coming in from June 15th on will be numbered and we will revisit requests and make approvals based on availability at the end of September. Thank You!
A few weeks ago, we (2-3s) went outside a gathered soil from different areas around the school. We investigated the soil and made observations about what we saw, regarding what was in it, the color, texture, etc. We then planted flower seeds in each sample to see which sample would provide the seed with the nutrients it needs to grow. We are still waiting for our flowers to grow!!!! Check out the gallery for more pictures!
The final phase of the Art Smart Project where the students use their creations to do improvisation of different scenarios given to the students by Mr. Kincaid. In several instances, Mr. Kincade was one of the characters.
As part of an introduction to the one of the three leading cultures of area that are the make-up of our Kent Region, we decided to read literature on the Dream Catcher to help us discover the story of where Dream Catchers originated. The children of Harcourt School were introduced to this legend and were provided the opportunity to create their own Dream Catchers! The project is not yet complete, but our students are enjoying the creativity and connection to our area that is rich in Native, Francophone and Anglophone heritarige.
The students of Harcourt School enjoyed an informative, fun and challenging day at Resurgo Place. We started our day by making a brief stop at Centennial Park to eat lunch and we even had a chance to play on the equipment!
We descovered many previously unknown facts about jet-fuel and plastics; albertite (which led to the name of Albert County) and that Mr. K. Scully is actually "old" enough to have had several similer types of the desplayed artifacts at home as part of his everyday life when growing up...
As part of the School Improvement Plan for 2015-16, teachers developed a Math strategy that would be authentic and realistic for their students. Once each week, students would learn teh value of money and how to earn, save and spend on essential items (bill payments, work to earn money, and non-essential things). Ms Dedam decided that she would open a store and price each iten with a money value. The students were permitted to look over the tanble of items and decide what they wanted to buy.
Ms. Dedam thought it would be a great idea to have her studentrs research and create Inukshuks in her class. It was a very interesting and fun project that the children enjoyed immensly! Look at the middle stage of their creations...they will soon paint their creations for display.
